Biofeedback Treatments
Biofeedback therapy is a non-invasive, mind-body technique that teaches you to consciously control normally involuntary bodily functions, such as heart rate, muscle tension, and breathing. Using specialized sensors, it provides real-time feedback so you can learn to manage stress, chronic pain, and various medical conditions without medication.
How It Works
During a session, we place sensors (earphones) on your head to monitor physiological signals. These machines convert your body's responses—like temperature, brain waves, or heart rate—into immediate visual, auditory, or tactile feedback (e.g., a blinking light or an image on a screen). You then practice conscious mental and breathing techniques to alter that physical response, slowly training your body to self-regulate.
Common Types of Biofeedback
-
Electromyography (EMG): Measures muscle tightening and tension to help you learn how to relax muscles.
-
Thermal Biofeedback: Measures skin temperature, as your temperature often drops when you are stressed or experiencing poor blood flow.
-
Neurofeedback (EEG): Monitors brain wave activity to help with focus, attention, or stress reduction.
-
Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Measures changes in heart rate to help promote calm and lower blood pressure.
Conditions Treated
We use biofeedback alongside conventional treatments for:
-
Stress & Anxiety: Helps identify personal stress triggers and promotes a relaxed state.
-
Chronic Pain & Headaches: Highly effective at relieving tension headaches, migraines, and back issues.
-
Incontinence: Used to strengthen or relax pelvic floor muscles.
-
High Blood Pressure: Trains the body to naturally lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health
